I've read the manual, and read posts on another manufacturer forum regarding draining the water from the deisel. My questions are;

If you use truck stop deisel, how often are you draining it?
Do you use any Deisel treatment like K100 etc?
How do you prevent getting air in the system?

Thanks

Freightliner or Cummins one, put a Baldwin filter/water separator in the rear of my coach and the instructions is to drain a cup or so periodically. Never got any water out.

Its red and has a drain valve on the bottom.

My filter has a drain valve and an electrical connection to show a light on the dash if there's water in the filter. So far I've never had to drain any water. I have changed the filter so maybe there was some water in it, but not enough to register.

I have about 55,000 miles on my 08, Ram 6.7L, DIESEL and I have never drained any water out of the fuel system. I do change both of my filters on the truck every 10K and I also carry 2 spare filters in my truck at all times if needed.
On my wife's 2011, Jetta TDI, VW does not even recommend draining the fuel filter for water.
From my experience with heavy equipment if the fuel is stored above ground in holding tanks water could be present in the tanks.
If you buy your fuel from high volume dealers you should not worry about water in the fuel. There is a considerable amount of turnover in the fuel. Another thing to consider is that most modern fuel stations now have non metallic tanks and they are buried deep enough to prevent water formation in them.
