Gulfstream Tour Master T40F
I am investigating this 2009 RV and wondering if anyone has any thoughts or experience with this brand. I found several negative reviews about Gulfstream quality and customer service on another board, but they were several years old. This RV looks to be perfect for us for fulltiming, but we're newbies and scared to death about purchasing a dud!
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hello Chris and . We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you will enjoy the website and forums. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.
I can't comment on the particular model year you are looking at but I do know that like some other manufacturers, Gulf Stream has had good years and not so good. You might want to look at the top of this forum for a survey I started about "Rate your Gulf Stream" for more insight and hopefully a member here with a coach like you are looking at will chime in soon.

Good day Chris, and, Welcome also...
We bought our GS T40B a little over a year ago, had 13K miles on it, we too are fulltime. Only thing we had as a problem was a chassis issue that was totally under the 5 yr warranty of FL. Took a while to find the froblem, and some reserch, but it is fixed!
No problems with fit and finish, jacks, Generator, house systems, just the usual suspects that occur to about any MH of this size. Just put tires on a couple weeks ago, the originals looked fine, but were 07 year tires. I just did not want to take a chance.
Ours is an 08, and we are very pleased. We have the Mercedes 7.2L engine, 1K ftlb torque, drag a 04 trailblazer EXT. Handles it fine, mileage, around 10 on the flats, 8-9 in the hills of eastern and southern US.
Hope this helps...
keep all informed of your adventures!

Chris-
I have a 2007 Tourmaster T40A which I bought new as a result of a dealer bankruptsy 3 years ago. Like you, I posted the same question on this and other threads. I received several negative comments, but most were from hearsay comments and not from owners. I had been looking at a couple other brands. While it's true that factory support has been very poor, most of the issues that I've had were taken care of by other vendors. This is my 4th diesel pusher and I am very satisfied with it and have found that the cut and trim of the interior is better than most.
Sure I've had a couple issues with the coach and a couple with the chassis, but not nearly as many as I had with a Fleetwood and a Monaco. I have circled the US with it including the western mountains and it performed very well. The other plus was the extras that mine included, such as a residential refrigerator, stacked washer and dryer, folding full king bed, attic storage, built-in direct connect LP grill, slideout refrigerator in lower comparment, and numerous others. We are not fulltimers, but spend 4 months in it in Florida and it is very roomy, more so than my other coaches. The residential refrigerator that I was concerned about has performed extremely well even when we dry camp for a few days.

Many times the air horn control valve just gets stuck from non use. Have someone push down to the button and give it a rap with a hammer.

Bob-
I'm assuming you have found the control switch that turns it on and off?

Bob-
My expertise ends at that switch. I don't have my rig here to check, but I recall there being a fuse for the airhorn located in the left front bay. Have you checked for a blown fuse?
While I'm on the subject of fuses, I've had two cases in the past year that a fuse tested good with the probe tester, decided to replace the fuse anyway, and the item began functioning after that. So, when I have something not working and the fuse tests good, I go ahead and replace the fuse.

Chris, All,
PHEWwwww ... You guys are making me feel good again. Read the
quality thread and my heart was sinking the more I read..
My wife and I are new to RVing, and have looked at 3 Gulf Stream
Tourmasters .. Have found a 2006 and 2007 that are very low mileage
and have the MB engines .. We love the fit and finish we have seen
but like I said, we are newbies in this game .. We are selling everything
we have to get into full time RVing and to start off with a lump of coal
but be heart breaking ... Thanks for making me feel better about the
Tourmaster because we feel it is just perfect for our needs ..
OBTW .. Any idea on best vehicle to tow .. Jeep Liberty, Compass, Patriot.
Have read Jeep was the easiest to tow .. Will also tow a 7x12 enclosed
most of the time for my Goldwing Trike .. We are big bikers and will
be on the trike most of the time when we are not on the road ..
Info in advance appreciated greatly
