Hello all
Just joined your forum and have read everything I can find on Tourmaster coaches. We are considering purchasing a 2000 Tourmaster, 40' 450 HP Cummins, 2 slides, per the build sheet it has every option GS offered in 2000. My dilemma I know very little about Gulf Stream coaches and their history plus I am bit concerned about the coach being 11 years old. So I am looking for input from anyone who has an older Tourmaster or some of the savvy folks here that can tell me what I need to be aware of before I purchase this coach. A little more about the coach it has been stored in a climate controlled garage when not in use. It has 29,000 miles with 950 hours on the generator. It has not been used since 2005 but is regularly started and driven. In 2007 the owner had in motion satellite was added so that he and his son could watch the super bowl while on their trip - but something came up and their trip was canceled. The coach is immaculate inside and out with only a very minor scratch on the rear bumper, the washer/dryer has never been used and the floors have been covered with original protective plastic from the factory. The owners son was into buggy racing so they put down throw rugs and never took the factory coverings off to keep out any sand and dirt. 6 of the tires were replaced last year and the 2 fronts are 3 years old. The owner said he thinks the batteries should probably be replaced as they are 5 years old. Also obviously being 11 years old the electronics need to be updated all 3 TV's are tube sets, stereo in-dash and the one next to the TV in the cargo compartment are tape not CD players, there is a VCR but no DVD player. Updating to CD, and adding a DVD player is simple enough as is replacing the TV in the bedroom and the one in the cargo compartment. Updating the TV that retracts into the dash may be another matter.

Anyway looking for advice input, what should I expect to or be looking at replacing. Should I even be considering a coach of this age from Gulf Stream?

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Hello and and to the Gulf Stream Owners Forum. We are glad to have you join us and I am sure you will enjoy the website and forums; no matter what brand of coach you end up with. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.
While I do not own the Tour Master, I do own a 2000 Scenic Cruiser with the Tour Master package for their millenium edition. I am also qualified to diagnose and repair RV's. If this coach has in fact been taken care of as you describe, it should be a great deal if the price is right. These are some of the best years that Gulf Stream built these coaches. If I were in the market (I am not, I still have ours) I would be very interested in it. If you would like to discuss this in a private message I would also welcome you to.

I have only owned my 06 gulfstream sun voyager four months and like it. I drove other manufacturers and came back to the gs because of the smooth and quite ride. I have owned other RV's and have had problems with all of them. It's just the nature of the beast with so many different systems working your bound to have something not work right most of the time. If everything checks out on the rig it really comes down to the floor plan and how comfortable it rides.
