Hello, New to the forum. I just picked up my 99 Sun Voyager. I am hoping someone can tell me how to test the voltage regulator on my Generac NP 75 Generator. Thanks

Hello RodeoVoyager and welcome to irv2!

Not sure how to test the regulator, but perhaps someone else will be able to answer your question.

If you don't get a response within a day or so try re-posting your question with as much info as possible in the MH-General Discussions & Problems sub forum.

The simple way is to get a plug in wall outlet voltage and reverse current meter. I think they go for 15 bucks. I keep one plugged into the wall outlet near the entry door so I can check campground and genny voltage at all times.

I agree with Jim or, simply use a voltmeter. I'm not sure what your motive is to test it, but I have done some work on my Q-55-G. If you remove the air cleaner box (very easy) you will see a 3.5 x 3.5 x 0.75 inch module with 6 spade clips, 1 red LED, and an adjustment screw, (which is the voltage adjustment pot). This is your voltage regulator. With the genny running, the red LED will be lit if all's well with the regulator.

Thanks for the reply. My generator is not putting out any AC. Camping World told me they think it's the voltage regulator but were not sure. This is after they tried $400 worth of other things that didn't work to fix it. Needless to say I picked up my RV and decide to figure out how to test it myself before buying a new one.

Here's a link for a Diagnostic/Repair manual for your NP Series. Should be all you need.....keep us posted.

Thanks everyone. I opened the control panel and fired it up. Flipped all my breakers and it worked fine. All 3 LED lights came on the voltage regulator. Let it run about an hour with no issues. Turned it off and let it sit for about 5 minutes then started it up and none of the LED lights came on and no AC input to coach Checked all breaker, etc. Let it sit for about 1/2 hour and tried again, and it came on again. Shut it down for 1/2 hour then started it up again and nothing. Now I'm wondering how to check excitation to see if the issue is further upstream to the voltage regulator, or if the voltage regulator is shutting down?
