Propane - horizontal tank

I have a ASME horizontal 25 gallon tank, Manchester. Does anyone know what gauge these are? Mine has some pitting and before I replace it, I'd like to be sure it's ok. Manchester said go ahead and sand it and paint it, so I'm just checking.

Not sure what gauge that your particular tank is , but I have seen a 20lb, (5gal) bottle cut open, and the walls were thicker that the valve protection collar. Tanks are constructed to a near triple safety standard. Could hold 300psi, normal fill 125psi. Did you send Manchester a picture of the rust damage ?

Post us a picture but most likely sanding and re-painting will suffice.

Before and after shots. Although I'll probably go with a few more coats of paint.

Great job, now all you need is protection for the tank so that rock chips don't start the whole process over again.

I was thinking of changing my tank after winter camping in our driveway while new oak wood floors are installed in our house. Reason for thinking of increase in side is with temps as low 18F and two heaters going full blast trying to keep the coach at 68F the LP tank only lasts 5 days max before I need to unhook the electrics from the house and drive to get the LP tank refilled. Seems to me I could do better by increasing the tank size? there seems to be plenty of space around it to increase the size, has anyone did that before? Great job on reconditioning of the tank, but don't know how to prevent stone chips other than monthly spot painting as they happen.

I had the Same Tank in My Crescendo.

I removed mine, it was in Very good condition as my coach only had 7K on it when I bought it.

I replace it with a 50 gallon tank, Fits like a Glove.

I ordered new sending units for my freshwater and holding tanks and the new panel had a connection for my propane tank. I looked all over for a built-in sending unit for my Manchester tank and no luck. So while I was reinstalling this really heavy tank, I saw a coiled wire on the bus frame. It ran to the dirt-covered sending unit already installed in my tank! Lucky!
