I have a 2005 Tropi-cal that is new to me. While driving the drivers side slide creeps out ~1 - 2". I found a post and reply for a similar problem that identifies my style motor and brake. I need to know if this can be adjusted or if there is an internal part I can replace. I am very mechanically inclined and do most of my own work. Attached is the post from a previous problem identical to mine.

The motor has a spring loaded can with a pin that locks in a hole (presumably when locked) I can pull the can back and rotate out of locked position. This pin is in the hole when the creeping problem occurs. Two additional slides on rig are in the same position with no movement whatsoever. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure that the attachment worked so I copied and pasted. The pictures did not show.

Sam,
Here is some information regarding your slide out creeping.
From June of 1998 until May of 2009 I worked for RBW and then AL-KO when they purchased RBW in May of 2008. I was pretty much the go to guy at the plant. I cut my teeth on Technical Service, wrote manuals and technical bulletins, performed product development, and went into the field for both customer support and field service. I tell you all this to establish my bona fides.

Your room is creeping out probably because the brake is not engaged. You should see a strange looking can assembly attached to the barrel of the motor. I have attached pictures explaining how it works. If everything seems to be in working order, feel free to post back and I'll give you an email or phone number. I'll be happy to help you out. It keeps my brain from turning to mush.

I have an 05 Pace Arrow 36D with a full side slide. It came with the locks at the front and rear of the slide out,I did not know they were there till I saw that you must hold the retract button till 2 red LED's come on. You might have the same set up if it is a Power Gear system.

This is my first RV with slides but I am familiar with the manual locks. Mine does not have lights associated with the controls so I don't think I have the same system.

I did take the motor brake can off yesterday and found the magnetic brake on the RBW motor had the plastic stripped out of it's center. Online I found a replacement at myrvparts .com and ordered it last night. They have a comment section that they responded to this morning assuring me that I had the correct replacement for my existing brake (Stearns B130 OBJY2 12vdc 7w) . He added that the replacement has an upgraded friction disc that is more tolerant to operating the slide with low voltage. I guess I will be sure my batteries are fully charged, am hooked to shore power or the generator is running when operating the slides as a precautionary step to longer life on the motor/brake.

Thanks for all your input

I need to correct the website from previous post. I found the RBW slide out motor brake at myrvpartsplace.com.
