I have a 1999 Gulfstream Tourmaster and the automatic step quit working. I was able to jump the motor to run the step in and out. I checked all the fuses I could find as well. I connected the wires back to the motor and ran the step in. I went inside turned the switch for the step on and it went out. However it will not retract. Any advice on where to start

Here iRV2 Forums - Files - Electrical is where you can get technical info to troubleshoot the steps. Let us know what you find or if you need other help.

Bet there's one more fuse. Same situation. Called Good Sam. They removed motor to get steps up. Took to shop and paid $100 labor for 40 cent fuse. Our hidden fuse was in bay over front right tire. Felt sheepish but won't make that mistake again!

There should be a total of three fuses for the step system.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the sensor that read when the door was opened or closed. Mine was a set of sensors ( one on the door, with a mating one on the door frame). They had become Mis-aligned and would no longer tell the motor when the door was opened or closed. Easy fix.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice. Gulfstream emailed me the manual for Kwikee steps. I used the troubleshooting section to trace the problem to the magnetic door sensor. Problem solved with a $20 part. I also put a switch in line to completely over ride the step to keep it retracted. There was one to keep it extended from the factory but I also had need for the other. I keep the coach parked beside my home very close to the curb a few days before we leave to start the fridge, load, etc. When the air bags leak off the step is below the curb. Now I can keep it from getting caught on anything.
