I am redoing the roof on our 92 GS Conquest 29'.I have found 2 square steel tubing studs in the roof so far.The first one is in the top bunk area the second one is near the roof a/c.They measure at 36" apart,I checked that distance back from the second one and could not find another one.I know most stuff is 16" centers, that seems not to be the case on our M/H.Does anyone know what the spacing is on these? I really don't want to tear it down that far to find out.I would really appreciate any help/advice.
Thanks in advance

I was having the same problem in my enclosed TH. I used a stud finder, a mini stud finder with a pivoting magnet, and a rare earth magnet. If I get on or near the metal stud, the RE magnet sticks to the wall. I forget what my spacing was, but it didn't follow the exposed beams on the ceiling. I mostly used the existing screws to hold on the paneling on as a guide.

Having recently taken a tour of Winnebago factory I came away with the feeling that you will not find any consistency in the spacing but the studs are determined by the shape and stability of the coach model. All companys will vary the building style so I can be or maybe I should say wrong!
I like the magnet idea but what if the studs are aluminum?
I am getting ready to rebuild the dinette in my coach and the new one will require some different mounting technics. So I am very interested in the subject.

A good stud finder "should" find them. The one I have is ultra-sonic, so it just looks for a difference in the mass behind the wall material. You don't have an aluminum magnet? Also, what I did was to use a straight edge from the top and bottom screws.
I found on my TH that the studs were not consistent. Made it hard when moving a gaucho.

I live in Nevada and was visiting family in Ill this past Dec, in general conversation I was asking my son in law about finding the studs in the sidewalls of the motorhome, he said he was curious about it also but did not know the answer. The next morning it was chilly and a light frost was covering everything, as we walked towards the coach my son in law says to me I know how we can determine where the studs are as I looked at him with curiosity , he pointed to the side of the motorhome, as the sun hit the side of the coach it was melting the frost and leaving darker images on the side walls , these images where the studs and other materials used in building the motorhome, not sure if this will help but it was revealing to us
