Tank capacity on BT Cruiser

OK, dumb question #1 (there will be many, many more!) DH went to fill the fresh water tank just now, it would only fill to 1/3 capacity. Is this because the grey water tank was 2/3 full? Or do we have another problem? Any advice would be most gratefully welcome!

It is not unusual for the tanks sensors to not work properly. If you can visually see tank. Look for what the water level is. There should be no relationship of water level in Gray tank and Fresh and Black tanks.
When you find fresh water tank look for a broken wire that goes to 3 sensors on tank. You will find similar wires on all 3 tanks.

As it turns out, DH was trying to fill through the wrong hook-up! He did, however, fid the fresh water fill and the tank, so it is now full - minus whatever sloshed out at every turn on the way home! Thank you so much for your response, we have made notes about how to check the wires. VERY grateful!
