Hello all!

My wife and I are totally new to RVs and had never considered owning one until recently. On Saturday we traded my '95 Mustang for an '89 Gulf Stream Sun Sport. For the most part it looks great and everything seems to be working pretty well. I know we are going to be replacing at least two of the tires (sidewall cracks) and a few minor things (cracked coolant reservoir, ect) We were able to get most of the documentation and instruction manuals for it but I'm pretty sure everything is not there. I know I'm going to have a ton of questions about owning an RV (especially winterizing!) and fixing a few things so you'll probably see me here regularly.

That's us in a nutshell. We are really looking forward to the new adventure and making this RV 'ours'!

You've found the right place!

I've got the Sun Vista Hi-Rise version.. What engine and chassis do you have?

Any photos?

Good trade.

Glad you found my favorite RV forum. Lots of great people here, and it would be hard to stump them. Someone's 'been there, done that'.

Check the manufacter date on ALL the tires. I'm betting they're all well past 7 years old and should be replaced, for safety.

Happy trails...

Welcome aboard Jeff and Katie. Glad you decided to join us and congrats on the new to you motorhome. Hope you enjoy many funfilled miles with it. One word of advice on the tires, check the date code on all of them. Two may have cracks but if they're all of the same vintage there is possibly some things going on inside that are not visible. Be safe and Happy Motoring!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I do believe that the engine is the Chevy 454 but I'm not sure about the chassis. I'm trying to figure out exactly what we have an what I can get in regards to manuals. We have some of the documentation but I don't think we have all of it. For the most part it seems to in good shape, though yesterday it started idling fast and backfiring when we shut the engine down. I'm still trying to figure out what all the switches on the dashboard are for.

I'm going to try and attach a picture to this post (hopefully it will work!).

Chevy P30/32 chassis most likely.. Not a bad looking rig at all.. Good find.

I'm running a Ford 460 on a John Deere/Oshkosh chassis..
