The DW wants to remove the carpet from the main living area in our 2002 Sun Voyager and replace it with either wood laminate or linoleum. Has anyone successfully done this? My main concern is slide out clearance and possible damage to new flooring? I have no idea where to start, but am pretty handy, so I know I could install the new flooring, but I worry about the slide out. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

What slideout system do you have? Is there rollers on the bottom of the slideout floor?

I just installed laminate wood floors in my MH. The clearance is not a problem since the flooring is approximately the same thickness as the carpet and pad you will be replacing.

I have the rollers like you and I am planning to have some thin aluminum plates made that the rollers will ride on when extending and retracting the slide. This way the rollers won't mar or dent the flooring.

Hope this helps.

Usually the mfg. use a different material on the roller for carpet and hard surface flooring. A pad of aluminum or even nylon would work well when moving the room in and out.

Hey all thought I'd chime in. I have an '87 sunvista. I have replaced all flooring with
a good grade of laminate. The laminate should withstand the pressure from the slides. The compression on laminate is in excess of 2000lbs per square inch.
Hope that helps.
