Smile 1996 Magna general questions

Need some help on a couple of issues with my 1996 Magna. I cannot read the engraving on the dash and the overhead instrument panel, below the gauges and switches, during daylight. Does anyone know how to repair these engravings so they can be read?
Also a couple of questions regarding the electricial system. My receptacles, TV, microwave, etc are only energized when the inverter is turned on, even if I am on shore power. Is this normal? I come from a boating background and the ABT in the inverter just switches when shore power is available and the inverter does not need to be on. I have looked at the manual for the Freedom 25 inverter and it has little info regarding itís operation.
I have a Power Technology PT7000 generator. Does this generator have a separate fuel filter or does it use the engine filter? Mine has no gauges, has anyone ever installed after market gauges (volts, amps, freq)? If yes what kind.

My Freedom25 does not need to be turned on to pass power to the coach when on shore power. You are correct that there is a transfer switch in the inverter that switches shore power when you are plugged in.

Have you checked the breakers on the inverter? If the breakers are ok then you may have a bad transfer switch in the inverter.

If a repair of the inverter is needed, I would investigate getting a pure sine wave inverter. The Magnums have been recommended to me when I've asked about replacement inverters should my Freedom fail.

I have no response for your other questions.

Should you fail to get more responses here, try the CC owner forum on Yahoo.

Your PowerTech generator will have a fuel filter since it draw fuel directly from the main fuel tank. We have a 10kW PowerTech, and the fuel filter sits on the side of the generator engine.

You have answers to two questions. Try turning your headlight switch clockwise to increase the panel lighting. Mine light when ignition sw is on
