IMHO, diesel engines aren't even truly broken in till you get a couple hundred thousand miles on them.

A C-12 is a pretty solid engine. Maybe a moderator or administrator can post this question in the CAT forum for more coverage.

As for $$, it depends on the features. I do not know where the Afinity model lies in the CC lineup but at 42', I can't believe it is an entry level DP but a more upscale unit.

They appear to range from around $160K to $215K for 2000-2001 models and some come with all the bells and whistles. This price range also puts you in used Foretravel, Prevost and Newel territory so look carefully.

As I have "suggested" before, pick your max price range and then look around as there are a LOT of very nice loaded units for sale, some via Repo places, others via brokers and still more via consignment dealers.

Viet Vet, We just picked up a 2001 Affinity 40 foot, with 26,000 miles on the odometer. I traded straight across for a 2006 Alpine Apex. Can't help with dollar figures, but I feel we got a very nice, well built coach, from a manufacturer that is still in business. Quikduk does not know that the Affinity is the top of the Country Coach line, with only the Prevost conversions above that.

I do believe that a diesel that is taken care of is not broken in until at least 50K miles, or more. Good luck and hope I have helped.

One thing that might be of interest, I am told that most CC Affinity models are special order and designed to suit the purchaser. Very beautiful homes.

The few I viewed online appear to be quite stunning. If I could fit one at my house, it would certainly be on my "next coach list".

Good luck...and keep the checkbook in your hands until you are absolutely sure it is perfect for you.
