I think you are something backwards. The inverter has a transfer switch built in that switches between passing through shore power or making AC from the battery supplied DC. If that relay is sticking or has bad contacts it would interrupt your AC.

Also some have current sensing and will shut down a high current load to avoid damaging the conversion part of the circuit. It sounds like that might be tripping with the load from the Microwave or Coffee Pot. Both are significant to what the inverter can supply. Bad design happens so the sensing circuit may not know it is not making the AC.

I removed the inverter yesterday and pulled the cover. The cooling fan was not running even though it had 12 volts going into it. I cut the ground wire and ran it to a ground stud and the fan runs all the time now regardless if the inverter is on or off. I have not had a loss of power for 24 hours. I'm not sure what triggers the fan for the inverter....but if it keeps working this way I may add a switch to the ground wire so I can control the fan manually until I replace this inverter.

If you trace the wire you cut into the circuitry it probably is controlled by a heat sensor. In the old days I would expect a snap switch. These days it would probably look like another transistor and be an input to the micro controller that runs the whole thing.

Electrical system still working after grounding the fan motor to the chassis. I will put an external switch on the ground wire so I can shut the fan off when not needed. Thanks for all the input and suggestions.
