Since your buddy has a deposit on it the PPL website took the pictures and price off their web site. So there is little info I can see. In general Country Coach motor homes are at the top end of the quality scale. The RVCG motor home rating group puts Country Coach and Foretravel in the year of your buddies coach in the number 1 and 2 ratings of all production motor homes.

But do keep in mind this a complex vehicle that is now 12 years old. Many things can happen in 12 years. Motor homes are NOT like cars. Cars are made in huge batches and most of them today or back in 2000 were mostly bug free and require little fixing. I bought a used 2002 Saturn to go with my 2002 Country Coach. The Saturn was low miles and has required almost no repair. The Country Coach has required lots of repairs. But I really like our motor home and would make absolutely the same purchase decision today that I made close to three years ago.

I just bought a 2000 Country Coach Allure and love it. It is worth checking the model number to see what upgrades it may have. Mine had a late model number (30591) so it has many upgrades like the wider frame rails, bigger tires, Allison 6 speed transmission, etc. Mine has 101,000 miles on it and it runs and drives perfect. All systems work and the overall quality of the Coach is excellent. It also came with all the original owners manuals and service records going back to around 10,000 miles. I buffed and then waxed the exterior and it looks great for a 12 year old Coach. Condition and a history of routine maintenance are key factors in my opinion. I paid $59k for mine.

Good luck!

Nothing wrong with a '00 Allure. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles on it to break, just the basic stuff. It is a solid coach, built back in the era when the factory had pride in their workmanship. After the '03 year, things went down hill pretty quickly.

They are easy to work on, parts are still readily available as a lot of the good factory techs started their own businesses after CC went BK. They have their "sources" and are of great assistance. Best part is they are not gouging prices.

You can go here and pick up some useful info. Model History | Damon Rapozo

Putting the down payment already, must have liked what was seen during inspection and review of records. Solid coach, solid era for that specific RV line. And if I remember correctly, probably the 8.3 without as many of the later years smog and as fancy computers.

We are happy with our 04 Allure, no real concerns from the quality standpoint, so I think we must have got lucky based upon Don's post. ( I actually noted solid builds workmanship thru to and into early 2005. And even after that, the fundamental engineering, clean process to wire and plumbing routing, and better quality materials - still made the later Country Coaches a solid buy in relation to many other coaches. All my opinion, which is worth nothing to anyone but myself!)

Wish them luck, and safe travels ahead,
Smitty

Info

Realize this is a little late, but, I spoke with "Country Coach out in Oregon yesterday, this company is NOT related to the old country coach, but was started by former employees, and hires only former employees. According to the info I was given, they have access to all of the old manuals and build sheets. All you would have to do is contact them, give them the vin# and for x amount of money they will send you the build sheet, or manuals.

A little clarification is in order on your comments about Country Coach currently in Junction city.

I have been there and had work done on my coach there last summer. They are run by Ron Lee. They are in the same buildings CC used to be in. They bought all the intellectual property of the old CC. Meaning they have access to all the build sheets and so on because they are in their building.

Technically they are not the same corporation as the old CC. But then General Motors, Chrysler are not either.

I don't think for one your friend will have a problem with PPL. They're a class act. CC always made first class coaches in my book and if they have the maintenance records on it I would think they would be good to go. Hope it works out for them.

A build sheet is a piece of paper that tells the "who/what/when/where" of what is/on the coach when it was built. Maybe a better term would be spec sheet. If you look in the medicine cabinet, you should find a sticker that tells what equipment was installed in the coach along with part# and serial #.
