2002 Allure (new to me) Headlight question

Hello all. I just picked up my 2002 Allure on Tuesday this week. 6 hour drive home and it drove like a dream. We couldn't be happier and are expecting some great times in it as well as some repair jobs that need done.

That bing said, I drove home at night and I might as well been shining a flashlight out the side window as the headlights are not very brite at all. My question is: How do I change the bulbs and what bulbs are they?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to lots more questions from this board as it looks like you guys know what you are talking about.

Thanks,
Tom

Measure the voltage!

With everything being fiberglass you will have a ground harness as well as the power one.

Measure the voltage at the terminals, it shoul dbe 12 volts, if less then measure from each terminal to ground, one should be 12 and the other almost zero, if one is more than 0, say you measure 4 volts across the bulb, one will be 12 volts to ground and the other 8.

This indicates a poor ground, look for a green wire attached to metal.

Good luck!

They are plastic covers and I used a rubbing compound on them last night and it did help. However my original question is or was how do I get to the bulbs on these lights? I can't figure out how to get to them to possibly change them. They work now however I'd like to look for some brighter, whiter, bulbs. Thanks.

I think if you lay down and look up behind the bumper you should see the wiring harness for the headlights. If they are halogen which they may be use gloves to install uninstall, oil on your fingers will burn them out quick.

91000 on 2002 and my lights are fine

I also have a 2002 CC. I have 91,000 on mine and the headlights are good. I have thought a bit about getting a polishing kit to buff out the lenses. Mine are slightly fogged.
