2005 Inspire Charging ?

Went to fire up and move the coach to do a spring cleaning. Chassis battery completely dead. Coach batteries are fine as it stays plugged in. In the chassis battery compartment I see a Xantex box. very small say eco charge or something like that. So my question is should the coach battery get charged from shore power? Does the battery disconnect stay on/off?

On my 2005 Inspire the chassis battery is charged when on shore power. I believe there is a 15 amp charger that charges the chassis battery when plugged into 120 V. I winterize the coach last October and it is been plugged in every sense. When I went to started last week started just fine with plenty of cranking power.

I think there are two fused red wires to/from the Echo charger above your chassis battery. One of the fuses may be bad or a loose/corroded connection. When the the house batteries are fully charged while on shore power it will then charge the chassis battery. You can tell that this is occurring by use of a DVOM on the battery terminals. It will be in the ~13.2 range while being charged.

Steve,

You might want to junk the Xantrex Echo Charger and replace it with a Magnum Battery Combiner. Much better product!

Amazon.com : Magnum Energy ME-SBC Two Bank Smart Battery Combiner 12/24VDC : Magnum Inverter : Sports & Outdoors

I did and haven't had a problem since.

Chassis battery is charged from the house batteries using the Echo charger. If you look at the manual, it will help you troubleshoot your problem.

Mine has been fine since its installation in '01

I may need to test the house batteries and make sure all are OK. May be just charging the house batteries full time.

So the position of on/off battery disconnect should not matter.

Thanks for the replies !!!!!

I store mine unplugged and turn off the main switch and chassis batteries hold charge fine. House batteries are dead though.

I had the same issue this winter, did what BarneyM above recommended. This took care of my problem and is very easy to install.
