My inspire has 4 slides and the slide directly behind the drivers side it has a piece of pleated frabric that covers the slide mechinism directly behind the drivers seat.
This pleated fabric is intended to fold up accordian style when the slide is open and to remain within the slide mechinism behind a short wall.
when the slide is closed it is meant to expand as the slide comes into the coach and hide the slide mechanism behind it.
When I bought this motor home the pleats in the fabric of this cover were somewhat crumpled and it wouldn't fold up nicely when the slide was extended-- some of it would stick out between the slide and coach wall when the slide was opened and get pinched in the area between the slide and the coach wall.
I've been trying to manually fold the pleats while opening the slide so that the pleated material didn't get mangeled worse then it already was and didn't get pinched in this area.
Yesterday when I closed the slide there was a loud bang??? scarred me and I stopped and checked things out ??? it seems that the slide end of the pleated cover popped out of it's retainers on the slide side and is now just hanging from it's attachment's on the coach outer wall and is no longer attached to the slide side ???--- this is somewhat diffucult to explain --- '
In any case my questions are ---is there some way to repair the pleated material ??? will just ironing it work ??? ---it feels like some kind of synthetic material ??? Also dose anybody know of a better way to re-attach the slide end of the cover ??? in looking at it, it seems like it is retained by some sheetmetal clips and the cover simply snapped out of the clips ??? is there some better way to attch this thing ???
Has any body else had this problem ?? how did you handle it ??? is there something else that I can use for a cover here besides the pleated curtan ???
Thanks for any help you can offer
Gene

Gene, you might be able to remove and iron the pleats but the cover could also be replaced with a vinyl shaded. Screws could be used to hold either. Good luck and keep us posted.

I removed the cover from the motor home the other day. It seems to be made from some type of synthetic material, about the feel of a window awning ??? In any case because of how it's built it would be impracticle to iron it. I carefully re-folded it along the origional pleats and clamped it together. I then sprayed the whole thing with a spray starch?? I don't know what else to try ?? this thing has elastic bands thru it that are holding it together, that's why it popped out!! the elastic is quite strong.
I wonder if any body know's who might have built this ??? there are just 3 sheetmetal clips attached to the slide that hold it in place on the slide side, where it popped out. I would like to add a couple of clips to prevent it from popping out again, but don't know where to buy the clips. There is no marking on the thing any place that I could find.
I don't want to pay CC $25.00 just for that information.
I would think others have had this problem too??? this curtian has been removed before as there is more than one set of screw holes in the coach wall where it's attached.
I've also thought about a curtian that just snaps --simply remove it when the slide is opened ?? but if I don't have to mess with that I would rather not.
do you have any thoughts???
Thanks for any help
Gene

If you can post a picture of the cover and its mounting someone might have a good idea to share. Just a thought......

I did like I said, in that I left the bellows clamped together for a few weeks and sprayed it a couple of times with spray starch. I re-installed today and it looks fine. The pleats are for the most part sharp and crisp, there is just a little bit of evidence of where it was crumpled in the past, but most if it looks real good.
I wish I knew where to get a few more of the retaining clips as I'm somewhat worried that the 3 clips that hold it in place may slip. There's not much to them and if I could find them I would be willing to bet that they aren't $1.00 each, if that.
I'm still not willing to pay CC $25 for the privilege of talking to them. If the thing pops out again I’ll just have to figure out where to get a few more clips, or figure out some other way to attach this thing.
I didn't have any factory support when I bought this motor home, and I feel as if I still don’t have any now, guess I can continue to live without it. Sure is a disappointment though.
Sorry about the lack of pics ---I'm just not that much with regard to technology.
Thanks for the help that you did offer though.

Our Lowes and Home Depot stores have special trays in the hardware section. Some of those trays have common automotive clips, plugs etc. Perhaps they or a real hardware store might carry those clips?

I did go ahead and add three screws to the side of the curtan that is held in place with clips. It all seems to be working fine for now.
Thanks for any suggestions, the help is much appriciated.
