My motor home is the 43 foot Venetian model and it is equipped with a Kenwood KUT 617 DVD for a dash stereo, this unit is also equipped with navigation by Garmin
Now, I need to update the navigation which is easily done by downloading the update to a SD chip and then inserting the chip into the Garmin KNA-G510 which is a separate modular part of the Kenwood radio.
I have no problem with the download from Garmin to the SD chip
The problem that I'm having is finding the KNA-G510 unit??? I've gotten to the back of the radio and its remotely mounted controller but I can't seem to find the Garmin module ---
Would anybody know where this KNA-G510 module might be --- I've pulled the dash apart and removed the kick panel by the driver’s side but no Garmin??? So rather than continuing to pull the whole motor home apart I thought I'd ask ---
Can anyone help??
Thanks
Gene

Gene,
I have an 08 Allure and just upgraded the Kenwood DNX 6xxx something to the 9280. The gps box was separate with the bluetooth. I was with the tech who did this; my boxes were in the pod that fits into the main dash from behind, it just pulls out, a push fit. My boxes were just laid in on the loom with some velcro holding each together! A bit dissappointing to say the least, all but one were made redundant by the 9280! And he ditched some box that was screwing up the back up camera, so that works great now too!

Thanks for the response but I'm not sure I understand where this pod is exactly??? Where is it pushed in from???Where is behind the main dash??? Is this accessible from the generator area with the generator slide opened???
Thanks for any additional steering you can provide
Gene

So, you are sitting in the drivers seat; you have the main dash panel flat in front of you with speedo etc? The rear of that is a sort of bubble shaped pod covered with leatherette, if you stand up and look closely this is not attached with screws but just pushed/slid into the back of the main dash panel refered to above. You just gently tease it out towards the windscreen and there you go all is revealed? If you still have trouble I will go and take a photograph for you. Good luck.

I already did have the back of my dash open as you describe -- and BTW mine does have two screw that hold the leatherette pod in place -- but all that is in there is the back of the Kenwood radio and a rats maze of wires --I'm actually ashamed to post this pic because I did expect more from a Country Coach than this maze of wires --- I'll try to attache pics --
in any case that's all that is behind the pod cover --- there is a Kenwood DVD contoller behind the kick pannel
and I finally did just find the Garmin unit ---It's behind a pannel beside the drivers side ---under the transmission controlls and it's also burried in a rats maze of wires --
Thanks for your help
I'll try to post pics -- don't know how that will work out but I'll try

On my much older CC, I found what appeared to be piles of excess wire smashed into a small space transformed to very useful wire slack that allows components to be moved and worked around when the occasion requires.
It looks intimidating at first, but probably sorts down easily using the wire number charts and wiring schematics.
