Advice needed

A couple is flying in on Monday from Canada to look at the Safari we have for sale. I’ve sold a few things over years from jeeps, to boats, and even a few airplanes. But, I’ve never dealt with anyone from out of country. They seem like really nice folks. My question is other than cash how do we safely transfer the money in the event they decide to take it home?

Bank to bank is the safest me thinks..just make sure that the transaction is in US Dollars..

Advice needed

As a Canadian who has bought many toys in’s the US I have either brought US Money orders to pay for them or had my bank wire the money. In both cases the money arrives a couple of days ahead of me taking delivery. Cash does work as well but it is a hell of a lot of paperwork to bring more than 10K US in cash with you.

Hope this helps.

Bank to bank wire transfer is the easiest and safest way to do it.

For large transactions My bank recommended never to do a wire transfer for security reasons.

They Recommended cash or check AND if check,Requires 5 days or so to clear before taking possession.

Forged checks can take two weeks to find out about. Big risk, even bank certified checks can be forged.

Whatever you do don't take a cashier's check. Saw one for $10,000 bounce.

Your bank will call to confirm if the monies are good upon deposit. Have the buyer attend your bank with you.

If you have agreed on the price have them wire transfer the money to a holding account (could be within you own bank) and once they look the coach over you both can go to the bank and make the transfer. If they want to discount your price after looking at it then you can still do the deal as you both will agree to the total.

Definitely agree with others on checks, cashiers checks and other forms of payment. I would steer clear...

Good luck...

Well, it’s gone. The Safari has a new family and it’s on its way to Canada. We used old fashioned wire transfer. It took 24 hours to receive but all is well. Thanks for the advice.
