Amana Refrig replacement

I have an 06 Intrigue with a 22cf electric side by side that needs a Evap.Fan Assy part that is no longer available through Internet parts houses. It is the part that holds the 2 lights to the top just inside the door, directly in front of the Dairy door. If I can't find the parts, I may end up replacing the refrigerator entirely.

Has anyone replaced their Amana and if so, what brand did you choose to go with? Are you happy with the results? Amana is made by Whirlpool and replacement cost is about $1100 whereas a Samsung is $3000. Something is better?

Your input and experience will be appreciated. Thank you, Norbert

Sorry but can't help with parts. We do have the same 22 cu. ft. Amana in our Allure. We really don't like it (never did like side-by-sides) and really would like for it to die during our extended warranty period so we can replace it with a French door model. It will probably wait until after the warranty expires.

If you have to replace your's, I will be curious to know if it fits through your entry door with the fridge doors removed and the passenger seat removed. It seems pretty big. I was told at Country Coach recently that some of the larger items in our rigs were put in the coach thru the windshield opening before the glass was installed.

Check out local mom and pop appliance repair places.

Many have bone yards of trade ins tgey use for parts for repairing other trade ins.

What is the issue?

Fan not working or broken plastic?

Most fans are just dried out bearings.

I had one positive response from the internet today that includes one of the 3 pieces I am looking for. The most important part, the other pieces are minor and I could live or work around them missing. I will try some of the local bone yards, repair places and mom/pop shops, taking the pieces and try to match up.

My issue was self inflicted and deals with melted plastic parts. My last return found me emptying the frig, turned off the power inside the frig but did not turn off the breaker on the main panel. Turning off the power does not turn off the lights, only the compressor. The lights were left on until the next day because I left the doors slightly ajar to air it out. Next day I did see the light on and shut off the power at the breakers. Thought no more about it, couple days ago I went to close the doors and the right door would not close smoothly. I looked and looked and finally noticed that the 2 light bulbs just inside the door were actually hanging down low. Why? They had gotten the plastic so hot that it melted their support bracket and they were hanging down low enough that it kept the door from closing without pressure.

One bulb actually was touching the Dairy door that is the top shelf on the inside of the door and it is bowed in and looks ugly. What a disappointment, these are not easy parts to find since they discontinued this model (as they do all models every 3-5 years to sell more parts)

All the bulbs in the frig/freezer are 40W (original) but no matter, they are not designed to be left on for a couple days without cool air surrounding them. The heat was to much for the plastic and it became badly warped. It is an esthetic issue, but not so much that I am going to remove the front windshield . I had a chip in that earlier this year and it is a $3500 item.

SMLranger, if your compressor goes out, I may call you up to buy the plastic parts. I presume that you are now forewarned and will not warp your pieces like I did.
Thanks for your suggestions.
