AV Renovations
Morning All,
I am looking for some information and solutions on an issue I am having. What I want to do is convert my cable output from my ANT/Cable/SAT selection box in the over head cabinet above drivers seat to some type of wireless solution. That way I can use my smart TV and other smart devices without running coax cables around my coach. I have searched though old posted but never really found what I thought I was looking for.
So has anyone done this before?
If so how did you do it and please include hardware needed to make this happen.
Thanks for the help.

There is an coaxial to hdmi converter on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/i/333102533983?...iABEgJnpfD_BwE
Dunno it works or not as I have never used one.

Harry,
I believe I understand what you are looking for but wonder if there are not a few questions which need to be asked ahead of proper recommendations being made. The questions I am thinking of are;
1. Your present cable selector box, does it redirect (send as a TV output) a coaxial cable signal, raw video/audio or a HDMI signal?
2. What inputs do your smart devices require? What I have seen most smart devices looking for are typically HDMI for Video/Audio and Wifi for streaming services.
3. What are you using for entertainment in your coach today? Satellite? Antenna? DVD? Wifi?
4. What kind of wireless range would you be expecting from the source to the receiving devices?
With your answer there may be a few other questions to ask.
Sincerely,
2-Nickels

I am also planning some upgrades and was looking into something like this:
https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/th...o-transmitter/
They make one with multiple input/outputs as well
AT home I utilize a HDMI switch to go between. Blu-Ray, Satellite and Fire stick I was thinking about that to feed the HDMI wireless box.
Dont have everything figured out yet so will be interested in how you do
Good luck and let us know what you decide

AV Renovations

Ok let me answer a few questions:
1. my selector box redirects signals from either cable/ant/sat/aux. it does this via a coax cable to 2 locations in the RV.
2. my smart devices use WIFI for streaming and HDMI for DVD
3. right now I use ant, DVD play with HDMI and hot spot from my phone. but I would like to get rid of the cable to the tv and just use the WIFI to get ant and DVD video. put the DVD player with the selector box also.
4. no more then 20 to 30 feet or so. mostly inside the RV and maybe under the awning if the weather is nice.
I guess the big issue is that I have to run a cable around the coach right now to watch tv, I would like to be able to mount my DVD player with the selection box and make the output wireless so that I can put my tv anyplace. I would like to drop the cable so to say.
Thanks for the help.

I'm also following this post with interest. not trying to take over this post, but has anyone here been able to get a TV cable from a portable Satellite dish, into the coach so it does not show? Is there an area behind a wall, cabinet or window frame that would allow that TV cable to run up the wall and come out somewhere near the entertainment center. I'm looking to have the cable end, to end on the outside area of the coach, either in the Generator area, the area beneath the driver or in one of the areas of storage. So I could just screw on or off the cable and position the Portable Satellite anywhere outside. Thanks

I don't know if this helps but on mine I have 2 HDMI cables that route from the AV cabinet above the passenger seat to the overhead TV. This covers the sat dish and DVD player. I still have a coax cable also that is hooked to the roof antenna but it's not used. No switching needed so the old switch box is still there but not used. Wifi takes care of the streaming but I would like to add a Wifi antenna to the roof at some point as sometimes we do not get great reception with just the TV Wifi. I currently do not use the bedroom TV, not out thing, but it could be done by adding a sat box to the bedroom as the coax cable is still there.

CountryFit, Interesting concept. But my issue is that my TV is not located in a standard location so no coax. So that is why I am trying to convert from Coax to a media solution that can be converted to Bluetooth or WIFI. I am really not interested in run cables all over the place.
Thanks for the help.

Harry,
Your are probably looking for something like this:
https://www.tablotv.com/products/tab...-lite-ota-dvr/
This one has a DVR to record over air broadcasts as well.
I'm sure there are others like this out there. I am going to book mark this for my build out and like you I am not planning on running cables. Will utilize this for the smart TV along with wireless HDMI transmitter/Receiver for BluRay and Possible satellite if we go that route.

Well read some more on that Tablo seems its a service but another device I was looking at was this unit:
https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/512...yABEgIR7PD_BwE
And then utilize the wireless HDMI transmitter/Receiver
Utilize an HDMI switch for the other devices ie bluray etc
Its BNC input but they sell coax/BNC adapters really inexpensive
greg
Gonna keep looking has to be
