CAC replacement

I have had good luck researching your forums to help find my way around my 2001 country coach allure. I have owned this rv for a year and it's my first motorhome, I am not unfamiliar with mechanical work or diesel engines. Actually my dump truck also has an 8.3. Since I have owned the coach its lacked power, I was hopeful that this was do to the sludge in my fuel, which was an issue but did not clear up my lack of power. I pressure tested my CAC and it failed terribly, now I'm wondering where I can order a new one?

Thanks

Radiator Supply House (Oregon) or Source Engineering are two sources that I am aware for CAC replacement.

Others with similar era and model coach may be able to identify other sources.

How did you pressure test it? mine seems to lack power on hills.

Thanks Dave

I took mine to Caterpillar. They have equipment to pressure test it and identify where the problem is. In my case, it was a cracked charge air cooler. Colton replaced it with a Dura-Lite years ago. No further problems.

I went through the plumbing section and made a tester. Used a 4" cap on one side, just one of those rubber hubs with the radiator clamp. I attached a compressor to it and couldn't even get it to build it leaked so quickly. I haven't been able to find a cac I could get in less than a month, and the radiator shop I use for everything is going to completely record it and beef up the sides to prevent cracking for 1200. Based on what I have read a new one would be ideal but I trust this shop they have always taken care of me. I will try and make a note of reposting down the line to see how the rebuild holds up. Hopefully the picture I took will help you build your pressure tester because it probably cost 20 dollars and takes less than 20 minutes to test.

Colton Truck usually stocks d
Duralite CACs for Magnas. Whether they have one at this moment I do not know.
