Smile CAT C10 99 CC Magna

Hello. i have a 99 Country Coach Magna with a CAT C10 and 385 HP engine. I am very pleased with my coach and engine. However, recently the tach gauge stopped working and also, my engine monitoring device that gives me several engine diagnostics blinks on and off and then shuts off after several minutes. Does anyone know what kind the monitor is, ie scan gauge type as it has a memory card in it? Also, it appears to be getting hot and shutting off as I had a CAT mechanic look at it. However, he was not very familiar with RV's. Any suggestions as to the cause or suggestions to repair it are much appreciated? Also, any ideas as to the best approach to replace this monitor? Cat dealer said the new one may be $700. He is wanting to look further into the situation. Thank you so much. LisaElv

Getting hot, no tach reading, engine shuts down.

Does the engine belt driving the alternator slip because too loose or is it broken?

Is coolant level good?

Do you get a 12.5V reading on your dash gauge for the engine battery when engine is running?

Maybe this bump will get some Cat owners replies.

Coolant level is good, volt gauge shows 11 but main readout shows 12.20. Don't know about alternator belt.. Thx so much Dean.

Ah, my bad.....

I misread your original post and thought engine shut down, which could happen if alternator was failing. Hence my response.
