Cat C13 Overheating

We had a problem with the engine overheating (Coolant 220 degrees) on a cool (50 degree) evening on flat ground. It seems that the fan does not turn on. It never has a problem during the day nor when it's warm out. My son looked at the schematic book, found the fan controller and assumed was that the ambient temperature caused the problem. Cut the wires to the air intake temp sensor and our problem went away.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Assuming the air temp sensor has gone bad. Thanks!

Yes your fan controller has failed, so the best fix is what I did install the wax valve or replace with another Sourer-Danfoss fan controller.

And check all the hoses,, one may have deteriorated and has a separation flap internally that could be blocking the flow, and the radiator cap could have gone "Teats Up"
