Chicago Campgrounds

We are planning to take a trip to Chicago with our grand kids this summer.
Using the RV Park Review websight I haven't found any full hookup campgrounds near downtown Chicago. We would like to spend several days downtown visiting the museums as well as other local attractions.
Any good campground suggestions are appreciated.

There is a CG downtown by Soldiers Field. Not sure if it is FHU. You may want to consider the outer areas since Chicago has a great mass transit system. One example would be the KOA (I know) in Kankakee. From there it would be about a thirty minute drive to (I think, been a long time) Crete-Monee to catch the train to downtown Chitown. Good luck!

Go over to Escapees forums.

Enter "Boondocking in Chicago" - or just "Chicago" in the search box, and scroll to that thread.

Thread has links for more info.

VERY convenient - NO hookups, but might be OK for a short stay.

Chicago campgrounds

A few years ago, we stayed at a RV park on the southern edge of Chicago, however I do not remember the name. It was FHU but the water was horrible. We ended up with red rust stains throughout the coach even with double water filters. Unless they have upgraded the water system, I would avoid it.
