Hello Folks...

Before I take off for the northern hinter-lands, I am considering having the brake shoes replaced on my '99 Magna... Am wondering how much a brake job will cost... Anyone had their brake shoes replaced lately?

Ron, might I suggest you not instruct the servicing facility you want the brake pads replaced; you may not need them, but have them inspect the entire brake system instead. If they find that you need pads then they can do them while the wheels are off; otherwise they will replace them, even if they have many more miles of wear left.

Good advice Mike and Thanks... Called LazyDays and they told me around $4500 for a brake job, which sounds a little much to me... But as you say, need to have it looked at and go from there... May not need anything, just wanted to make sure I have good brakes before I take a shakedown trip.

I think you will find Lazy Days price to be more of a SNOW JOB than BRAKE JOB.
Take your coach to a good truck center for air brake repairs. JOSAM truck and coach centers come to mind first.

I had mine replaced last year at Sterling Truck Service,Spartan and Freightliner dealer. They peplaced 2 calipers,ground 2 calipers and replaced all shoes. Cost was $1876.00.

Thanks MMouser... just checked the internet and there is a Josam Truck Center in Orlando which is not more than an hour's drive from me...

$1876 would fit my pocketbook much better than $4500! Don't see a Sterling around here, but know now to go to a truck center rather than an RV sales outfit.

While you are there JOSAM is the best place in central Florida for front end and axle alighnment. Reasonable rates also.

FACT: JOSAM OF ORLANDO is where lazydays sends coaches they cannot fix or let's say misjudged thier ability to fix. Primarily for alighnment.
