Country Coach Lexa 42 alexandria

M in the market for a new coach. I currently have an 2000 american heritage. I found a 03 lexa that I'm very interested in. Looking for feedback on the coach and the company. Thank for your help

No expertise here.

My opinion is that the Lexa was a great high end concept coach but fraught with electrical problems when new. Not many were built or sold and the model was dropped by CC.

CC is one of the better high end coaches made. The Lexa was the high end and you will not see many out there. Perhaps because of what was mentioned above. Look at Affinity or Magna for almost the same level with many more available.

brandonklink - We have a 2002 Affinity which is just one level down from the Lexa you asked about. Our experience in the 4 1/2 years we have owned our coach is few electrical issues. We did have to have some parts put in our smart wheel steering wheel about 4 years ago. And we still have a hidden gremlin that once and a while locks our entrance door for us without us asking (I ALWAYS canny a door key in my pocket.) that no one can figure out how to solve except by disconnecting the burglar alarm.

So I have heard that there were electrical issues on the Lexa, but can say ours has been pretty much electrical issue free.

If well cared for, with receipts and documentation to back it, you may find this is a real gem. They sure are good looking rigs. Complex? Sure. Does complexity add to the risk of problems? Usually yes.

Me? If looking for a coach at that level, I'd go with either the upper Foretravel or Newell - as they are still in business and have higher volume of those higher end models sold that they provide support for.

Now, if this coach does have great documented care. And you are not afraid of the care and feeding of the complex systems with possible problems finding qualified technical supports and parts (even CC, restarted up again, may have problems sourcing some parts (? not a statement)) - the go for it.

Concur that if hooked on CC, the Affinity and Magana's maybe better value, with less possible problems long term.

I did forget about the inverter control panel we had to replace right after we bought the coach. So two fairly large electrical issues. We have spent plenty on batteries but those going out is mainly to do with lot storage people refusing to do their jobs and turn everything off when told to do so.

Thanks everyone for your input. I agree that they are complex but I'm an electrical engineer and I always do all My own work on my coaches. I call country coach and asked about parts service and tech support got a good response he looked it up by vin and was very helpful. The coach is gorgeous I love the awning system. It's is a dealer in Phoenix and on the phone they have been great to deal with. Dealer name is Sonoran truck and diesel.

OP - Maybe someone else will know this, but some of the CC's had problems with Aluminum Radiators and dry Power Take Off's. Not how early this took place, but if on this coach - I'd factor in the cost of replacement and Wet Kit in the negotiations. In addition with the normal age of tires, batteries (Is that one bay with X4 8D wet coach, and then X2 8D wet chassis?). On the pictures, I don't see slide toppers? Having awnings open enough to protect them will help on the heat gain, but I wonder about rain run off and puddling? (Not a big deal, just an observation.)

If good documentation, and batteries and tires with some life in them - that price does not seem as outrageous as some would first think for a 2003 rig. Probably some wriggle room, as in all things...

One other thought, if the documentation does not reflect maintenance of transyn, belts, and hoses - might add that as a bargaining chip to include in the final purchase agreement.

I ran into a guy in Mexico that had a Lexa and we discussed the electrical problems. He was a electronic tech in his working days and felt that he could fix anything. He said that once he got everything programmed, everything worked like it should. His thoughts were that the factory techs along with the owners twisted knobs and pushed buttons that they had no idea what they did and screwed the systems up. He was very happy with the coach which he got a good deal on because of the "electrical problems" which didn't exist.

Just one more comment about the Lexa. When they were introduced they were only $500,000 and there were only 6 or so in existence. At a rv show, they all sold out in short order so Bob Lee said raise the price another $100,000!
