Dash fans keep tripping breaker

When operating both of my dash fans, after about 5 minutes, the breaker trips and then will restart after about a minute or two. I removed both fans and they still looked new inside. Good brushes too. One fan runs a little warmer (89 vs 84),but I can't imagine this would be the problem. I ran both separately and the breaker didn't trip. The motor part # on the drivers side is 4000504. Any Ideas for a solution are appreciated. TIA

Sounds like your breaker might be a little weak. You might replace it and see if that fixes your problem.

Runs warmer?

Checked with ir thermometer ?

If it takes awhile to trip then nothing is shorted.

It is running at rated load and tripping over time.

Suspect both have partially dry bearrings with one worse than the other.

A dragging bearing increases the current drain.

Fan motors are the worst for bearings as the air movement dries them out.

They can be rewetted most of the time.

The grease dries out and the brearing drags.

You can get spray oil (delivery like wd40 but not wd40 as it is not oil and will not last) and get it into the bearing.

Remove the fan and yoy can just drip some 3n1 or sewing machine oil at the end of the shaft and you should feel it spin easier.

Wipe off excess with rag and remount.

One of my fans started to cause problems, it would periodically just stop and was running warmer. Took it apart and couldn't find any problems. Could never get it to work right so finally replaced both of them, cost ~$40 a piece. Kept the one that was working OK as a spare.
