Defroster heat

Evening All,

Well the other day I was driving home and it was in the 40s outside and I tried to get some heat out of the heater. Well with the engine temp up around 170 or so I was getting nothing but cold air out of the defrosters or the floor heat. So is there a trick to get heat out of the defrosters or floor heat?

Thanks for the help.

Sounds like one of the hoses on your dash heat/AC control has a leak. Check the white hose.

Any chance your lines going to your heater are bypassed back at the engine?

I have had three electrical valves go bad. One closed shut and two stuck open.
Wirh the engine warm, Locate the electric valve and compare the temperature of the hoses going in and out of the valve. If one id got and the other is not, it's the valve

I have a 2002 36' and I suppose it's not too much different than your coach. I couldn't get any heat out of our system either. I took it to the shop and it was on my punch list. They told me it was working fine then showed me a switch whose function I was ignorant of. It determins which side controls the heater control. If it is switched to the right the passenger is in control. If it is switched to the Left driver has control. There are two rocker stwitches mounted horizontally above the HWH Leveling pannel. The top one controls the heat the bottom one runs the stair well cover open and closed. Switch the top switch to the L and hopefully it should work.
Good Luck

By some strange memory of history, I too, recall the switch of control mentioned!

Also, I know that on our 04 Allure 40' coach (Mention the extra 4' due the next comment.), that when I turn the thermostat to heat mode - it can take several minutes (Even 4-5 mins...) before the actual engine heated fluid makes it up and thru the under dash heat register.

So patients is required...

But all of these tips so far, are worth experimenting with to see. If the warmth is not detected after sorting these tips out. Then start with the basics of also checking if the heater hose pumps are in operation. (And, it's for sure not unheard of for a leaking 'bus circulation pump' to be bypassed (Our rear pump is, but the key word was 'bypassed'. I've heard others say that instead of just bypassing the rear pump, some owner's (Fair climates I assume.) elected to just completely close loop the system towards the rear. With no engine heated fluid working it's way to the front of the coach.

Please close the loop back, and share what you find out. It could for sure help other's in the future.

Best,
Smitty

Heat

Thanks all for the suggestions will have to give them a try/check the next time I have the coach out. Just as a heads up my last trip was about 400 miles and it never got any heat in the front. So there is a good chance it could be a valve like wsmcycle said. All things I will need to check.

Pumper9x9 - I have been wondering about the top rocker switch next to the HWH panel. Not sure what position it is in now but will play with it to see if I get heat.

Thanks for the help.
