Tom Johnson, the fluids expert on IRV2, said to use Transynd to protect my steering and fan seals in a reply PM to my PM. He also offered his services to test any fluids I before I changed them out.

I guess I was under the impression that Dexron III formulations were not today the same as when Allison used it in my Transmission, and CC used it in my Hydraulic Fluid tank in 1995.

That is the reason I raised the question about the backwards compatible Dexron VI to learn if it had been used by a forum member.

Frankly, I am not sure that if I use Transynd that my 22 year old seals might be tired and fail anyway out of shock at the first class fluid treatment.

Woe is me.... I think I will splurge on some Dexron III to replace the Dexron III now in the tank. It has worked this long so maybe will work in the future.

Thanks to all for your opinions on this fluid change process.

This is not a transmission that needs transynd with all the Allison specifications.

I am asking about a 1995 power steering and radiator fan hydraulic fluid which originally was Dexron III

(I likely would not use Transynd for this purpose.)

Dexron VI is represented to be backwards compatible with Dexron III

Has anyone used Dexron VI with negative result?
Tom Johnson is who told me that TranSynd is also backwards compatible with Dex III and could be used in my HWH slide system.

dont want to run this subject into the ground.
A couple of thoughts. Transynd is a very good full synthetic fluid and works well in transmissions and reduces wear do to high performance friction coefficient reduction.
One problem is pumps and hydraulic motors rely on fluids that have an adequate amount of dynamic shear viscosity since there performance is based on gears moving the fluid and not having it want to leak by the side plates.
Its all about performance getting pumps and motors to run as efficiently as possible with out increasing rpm.
Likely TMI but fun to promp discussion
