Diesel Leak

1999 Country Coach Allure 40 Ft
330 Cummins Engine

I have a small drip of diesel coming from around what looks like a pump mounted to the passengers side of the engine.

Any one had this experience before?

Thanks

Larry

Yes, many posts and picture of the electric lift pump , gasket leak on the bottom of the fuel manifold on the ISC engine.
The original gasket material does not do well with ULS diesel and there is a new gasket material ( or should I saw was ) available without purchasing the pump.

Sometimes , tightening the three mounting bolts works, till you can locate a new gasket . I'll look for a Cummins P/N in the old posts.

I believe your coach has the CAPS injection pump. When the lift pump leaks the CAPS pump pulls air into the system through the leaking lift pump. Over time this can damage the CAPS pump. It’s important to get this repaired.

Here’s a good thread to explain the CAPS system;

I have the same engine but my lift pump is mounted towards the rear of the engine (front of the coach) and yes I have had the same as others as far as the leak goes. You can cycle it and when the pumps stops the leak should stop. If in fact that's it get it fixed!

I also had a leak where you say yours is coming from by the pass side near the rear of the engine fuel pump area. This was coming from the "fuel distributor", the lines that go from the high pressure side of the pump to the cylinders. It would not leak all the time and took Cummins awhile to locate it. Cost me $1500 to have them fix it but that was 10 years ago.

You can crawl under the coach with the engine running and look up in that area and see the distributor. If memory serves me correct the distributor is above the air compressor and will drip on the inlet hose for the air compressor. What happened in my case was the small rubber hose that feeds clean air to the compressor became saturated and the hose blew off. When that happens you lose turbo pressure and you do not have any power, real sluggish.

If you can't see it from the bottom open the bed area and look down from there. It's real hard to see in that area as they put a lot of stuff in there.

Hope this helps and good luck!!
