Dometic Combo Washer Review?

Anyone have the new Dometic combo washer/dryer? How is it?

We have the original one that came in our coach. We use it all the time. Works great.

Sorry if that does not answer your question.

We replaced an older Splendide WD802(?) vented combo with the new ventless Dometic. It has performed admirably while driving and while parked. It handles clothing for a family of four, plus kitchen and bath towels, with no problems. We hate laundromats. We do try to hang-dry some items (like microfiber towels purchased just for this purpose) but the condensing dryer does a great (however lengthy) job on properly-sorted loads. The Dometic is much quieter than the old Splendide.

Is this washer manufactured by Dometic or did they just slap their sticker in another product?
Also if the washer is ventless does that mean all the water vapor from the drying cycle goes into the coach rather than outside?

During the drying cycle, water vapor is condensed into liquid and drained into the gray water tank. Water vapor does not vent into the living space.

I can't say what percentage of the product is manufactured by Dometic. Nobody really makes everything in-house anymore. I didn't see any part or documentation that said it was made for Dometic by another manufacturer.

Thanks Mike. Seems very hard to get feedback from anyone else. One question for you: as I understand it, Dometic has figured out a way to do the ventless condensing drying without using an additional 2 or 3 gallons of water as the splendid ventless does. Is this the case?

I believe this is true, that Dometic uses a different condensing method (heat pump?) that requires no water for drying. Their literature states no water for drying. It's too cold here to demonstrate, as we are winterized until at least April, but I'm nearly certain that we have used the drying cycle with the water shut off.

Reviving an old thread here to note that I now believe that the Dometic washer/dryer combo is made by Midea. I don't see the Midea washer/dryer combo unit listed on the Midea website, but I did find one near to me on Craigslist. It is visually identical to the Dometic. They are also being sold by Amazon.

I'm not sure why but there are a number of online stores selling these units at crazy cheap prices. Here's one: Dometic RV WDCVLW Washer Dryer Combo Ventless - $710.95

I had a ventless combo and would personally never have one again. The dryer was at best slow in very dry climates but horrible in humid climates. I would recommend two units with a vented dryer or at least get a vented combo unit if you don't have the space.

We bought the Midea labeled one for around $700 and installed it n our Cardinal and used it all last summer at our camp host job and it worked great. Traded the Cardinal for a new motorhome and it has the vented Splendia and have not had a chance to use it yet. I give a thumbs up to the Dometic/Midea, about as good as you can get in a no vented model.

So let us know what you think after you try your Splendide, George.
