Electronic engine brake adjustment

I have a C-9 Cat engine and would like the brake to stay on at 70MPH rather than cancelling off around 60MPH when decending mountain passes. How can this be adjusted?

I believe the limiting factor to be RPM rather than MPH. This done to protect against floating the valves. JMO

Coaster1 is correct. Your C9 Cat will not down shift at any rpm which would result in the engine over revving and damaging its self. The exhaust brake will not be effective without the downshift as they produce their best retarding force when the engine is close to its max rpm.

If you are regularly not able too achieve a steady control speed on downgrades with the exhaust brake on then you will have to start your decent at a lower speed when the Allison can shift into a lower gear. It's most effective when in 4th or below.

Doug,

I have an 06 C9 Inspire and I've had better results turning off my cruise control entirely while coasting down steep long grades so my exhaust brake will be more active; if my cruise is set @ 60 the brake doesn't shift down soon enough to slow the coach down.
