Engine brake question....hissing noise

We left home today for our trip to points West. I was driving with the little toll window open and while descending a grade over a bridge with the engine brake engaged, I could hear a loud hissing or air moving sound. This is the first coach I've had with a side radiator and an true engine brake so I am not sure if this is normal. My previous rear rad coach had an exhaust brake and I did not hear this particular noise.

Is this just the action of that big fan?

It is a shame that my big 'clean diesel' DPF muffler makes this thing so quiet. I would love to hear the 'bp bp bp' sound that many OTR trucks make when they hit the Jake :-)
