The 180 operating temp suggests a problem with the fan controller or associated components. There is a coolant temp sensor, an air intake temp sensor, and a tericery (sp) switch for the A/C and vent controls. Any one of these sensors can turn the fan to high causing the storm.

First thing I would do is make sure you have 12 VDC to the controller. It should be mounted on the rear side of the radiator housing. A two piece square box with a couple of hydraulic hoses and an electrical connection is what you are looking for. Clean that electrical connection also. The ignition has to be on to see the 12VDC. Off hand, I don't remember which wires to check for voltage, look at your chassis schematic. From what I have heard, the hydraulic valve doesn't go bad but you might as well give it a couple of "love taps" with a hammer while the coach is running just to make sure it isn't stuck .

A new controller can be found for under 600 bux. If you have the part number, and order by part number, it will come programmed for your setup. Cummins Coach Care wants to charge for the "programming" which is already done. That part number will get you the complete assembly (controller& valve).

If you go to the CC Yahoo groups and look in the photo section, you will find pictures of the controller insides. I took the time to remove the potting material just to see what makes it tick. In the photos, you can see very clearly, some cold solder joints. Poor workmanship on the Sauer Danfoss side.

If you send me your e-mail address I can send you a PDF on the testing procedure.
I replaced mine on my previous 05 CC Inspire and it made a big difference.

I had it serviced at Cummins southeast, they checked with C/C and were told the fan runs at 1500 rpm at its lowest, which they said mine was reading, so should be working correct, I've never had this with other diesel coaches I've had and have not seen other coaches do this, is this a Country Coach thing, this is the only thing I dislike with this coach. I appreciate any input, thanks Larry
The Air Temperature Sensor or the Coolant Sensor can cause this problem, both sensors are fairly easy to replace. You can test for the failure of these sensors using procedures found on Country Coach Owners Yahoo Group, in the files folder there is a pdf file with the info. I have attached a pdf of the procedures to this post.

Joe,

It is much cheaper just to replace the air sensor to see if that fixes the problem, one can replace it themselves without using a pricey service center and the sensor is cheap to buy. Less than $40 the last time i bought one. How much does that Source Engineering gadget set you back?

Source has a kit to get rid of the electronics. My own unit was old enough that it was already non electronic but somehow the factory hooked the hydraulic lines up backwards and screwed the thermovalve at the radiator. The new thermovalve was $500 but problem solved and a mile to the gallon better with the fans not running wide open.
