Entry door rattle

Door rattles, didn't do it when we went to AZ and back. I don't see any way to adjust the pin in the door frame but there are three phillips head screws in the door. Are those the adjustments?

We had a rattle on our door and found if we closed the screen door separately from the main door the rattle went away. The rattle was coming from the screen rather than the main door.

Found my door seals to squeak/door rattle as well. Tried the above "close screen door, then main door" but still made noise. I now lock dead bolt (upper 1/4 turn latch) which pulls door in tighter and my door noises are gone.

Hope this helps,
Brian

When Bob Vinson at RCV fixed my door wiring he wrapped a couple of layers of black electrical tape around the latch pin and said this was normal maintenance on coach doors. Seemed to work.

I've heard of that, just haven't tried it yet. Grandson grabbed my roll of the tape and I haven't seen it lately!

Ours doesn't do anything other than latch so that won't help. I ALWAYS drive with the deadbolt locked even before the "incident" in Wyoming when a Spanish speaking "gentleman" tried to enter before knocking.

Deen, the pin in the door frame can be adjusted by loosening it. Assuming that the front of the coach is north, and the rear is south, the pin adjusts east and west. Use a wrench and give it a turn to loosen and then tighten after you have repositioned it.

Don:
I replaced the pin with one that has no arm and clothing ripping end on it and I didn't see that there was any adjustment there, unlike our previous DSDP that did have the movable pin.

the rattle could also come from the sliding door about 12" x 12" for the opening where you access the deadbolt from inside. while rattling occurs, ask the passenger to slightly press or pull the cover. if the sound disappears, you have found the source

That door is hard to slide by hand so I doubt that it could rattle. Too hot here to work on the rig during the day now that a construction company took all the trees out. A shame too as there was even a deer that hung out there. Lost all the shade to the entire house and MH.

Many coaches have 2 stage latches on the door. Close normally for parked use and really slam for traveling. I know this sounds strange but it is true and totally eliminated our rattle. Give it a try, it is the least expensive repair I've ever done. 👍

I know about that as does the DW and both of us have tried it with no change.

This topic has been visited many times on iRV2. When it was new to me I tried the electrical tape around the door pin: and it worked like a charm! Except that it wasn't a permanent solution.

I found that the pin (on mine, anyway) is adjustable and made the need for more tape much more infrequent.

Good luck and try everything you read about here. If you find something better, we'll be all ears!

The only one I haven't tried (of those that can be tried since our post is not adjustable) is the tape.
