Extended Powertrain Warranty 2000 Magna

The dealer with the 2000 Magna we are looking at has offerred to "throw in" a 24 month powertrain warranty.

As a bargaining chip I'm trying to figure out the actual value of an extended warranty like that. I've not been able to find a comparable offering on the web.

Any ideas? $4,000.00?
Thanks guys

My wife and I bought our 2000 Magna from a private seller in Oct 2015. Just for peace of mind we bought a Goodsam ESP with $1000 deductible with added drive-train seals and gaskets coverage for $1250 for a year. If my memory is still good I think $500 deductible was about double that.

We went this option predominantly in case something goes "south" on the engine or trans. I figure I can cover myself for anything less than or equal to the $1000 deductible but usually engine and trans problems are going to be much higher.

Hope that helps.

Thom

Wish our dealer had done that! We didn't get the offer (about $8,000 cost) till we got home from our maiden trip and by then it was too late!

Don't think it is part of the power train but check out the charge air cooler carefully. That vintage Magna had problems. I know, had to replace mine. About $4300 for CAC and labor.

Yes I've been wondering about the CAC. They seem to be an issue on many rigs not just CC. By the way I'm looking at #5734. It apparently doesn't have a boost guage; so how will I know it the cooler is leaking?

Mine does not have a boost gauge. I use VMSpc on my tablet to monitor several engine parameters, distance, and fuel usage.

No boost gauge, find a reasonable hill. If the coach has trouble going to the top then suspect that the boost pressure is low.

Also, you can go to http://www.damonrapozo.com/model_history/index.php

and find options and run changes for the Country Coaches

Not sure what the charge air cooler is but I bought a USW (United States Warranty) for our Inspire for $2994 for fours years and 48 thousand miles. Because I am over 62 my deductible is $75.00. I had GS since 2004 for my other RV with high deductibles also and had NO trouble with them just Camping World where I will never go again. Retiring a year ago I needed to find a lot cheaper warranty for my BIG issues. However my salesperson talked me into another $50 for the awnings etc. So far I have just over $3000 on a hydraulic fan and pump, sensor and labor. They paid $2800. I have had two awning motors replaced. Over $500 for both and I had to pay my $75 deductible for each. This contract has a lot of "small" stuff in it and they are very semantic on their black and white. If I knew how to attach the contract I would or I can send it to you as they have in it all the options that can be purchased. They owe me nothing!
