Extended Warranty

Hi Everyone,

well I am in need of advice on extended warranty's , I have one now but I am going to cancel it as it has never been implemented by the dealer in 8 months so my repairs have been declined.

Is there a decent Extended warranty out there that will not cost a arm and a leg ?

Is it worth have a warranty ? I have worked all the bugs out of my unit thus far and paid for all the parts out of pocket and did all the repairs myself.

any advice is welcome.

If it was never "implemented" does that mean you paid the dealer and they never paid the warranty company? That's fraud and you should go after the dealer for the declined repairs as well as your money back.

We looked at one on our Magna, was almost $9,000 for four years but it was an exclusionary one.

Extended Warranty

Randy, like many others, I have had some bad experience with extended warranties. At a Good Sam National Rally in Louisville in 2012, I purchased another one after being impressed by personnel there from Wholesale Warranties. I explained exactly what I wanted and the problems I had had with warranty companies in the past. They put together a program for us and, to date, we have been very pleased. I recently had a PTO/power steering pump failure in Newfoundland. It turned out to be an almost $4000.00 claim including air freight from California and CCC in Oregon. They paid every penny except my $100 deductible. I have had a A/C unit replaced, entry step motor & controller replaced, a major generator repair and an awning repair and in every case it was well handled and fully paid.
I suggest you call John Wise at Wholesale Warranties at 800-939-2806 and get some pricing from him. He is good to work with!

Extended Warranty

Randy, we paid $4340 for a 4 year policy that covers everything except normal maintenance items. It covers any contingent damage caused by any failure. They have different price policies depending on what coverage you want.
Going through a RV dealer, a huge commission is tacked on so go direct for the best savings.

I bpought one when we bought our 05 Magna 2 years ago. $9000 for 4 years. I should have bought it direct instead of through the dealer..It's been worth every penny though. It's paid out over $14000 so far and I have over two years left, never an issue getting them to pay.

Good advice. Save until you can afford a ESP. Then buy the coach.

That is exactly what happened to me too - paid $8,000 for 4 years. Six months later when I tried to file a claim it was denied. Come to find out, mine had never gone through, for what ever reason. I was reimbursed the entire amount + tax. That was a nice chunk of change. Nine months after my purchase, I have not needed it. I'm self insured! Let us hope it continues!

Yours with the price of the coach and the age will probably be steep too!

Good luck if you decide to purchase it.

It does sound like the dealer made a serious error and has significant liability for your claim. Anyway, call Wholesale Warranties (Wholesalewarranties.com) and ask for a bid.

I had a quote from them first, it was $10K for 3 years, $200 deductible, so I decided not to take it.

I had wholesale warranties quote it 3-4 different ways it is ranging from 8k to 11k for 4 years seems like plenty but the alternative can be much worse ! Time for a drink to ponder this dilemma.

Thanks for the feed back keep it coming .
