Filter Minder - Not what you think.
Many of us have the plastic thingy, near the air filter that indicates the condition of the air filter. It's a vacuum operated device that just has a rubber hose connected to it. That's not what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about a black-box (literally) module located in the electronics bay underneath the drivers seat.
The schematics for my Allure Veranda show the device but don't say anything about it. My owners manual says if the "HYD OIL" light comes on then check oil level, leaks and if okay then "Press and release the reset switch located in the engine compartment." The switch is nowhere to be found (Anyone?)
Well, I pressure washed my coach and, I'd say lightly, sprayed the dust off the engine compartment. Some water, somewhere, must have triggered the filter minder module. There is a hydraulic pressure switch on the oil filter assembly but the wires are tight and dry and the switch is not on when the engine is running so that's not the problem.
Long story short, there are five wires on the filter minder module and the white wire is marked as "reset" on the schematic. I temporarily grounded the white wire but that did not reset the hydraulic oil on the dash. I then turned the ignition on and grounded the white reset wire again and this did reset the module and the Hyd Oil light went out. The manual says that if the hyd oil light turns back on in about 2 minutes then the filter may need to be serviced. So far, no light, so I think the water spray was enough to trigger the filter minder black box response.
I hope this helps someone diagnose and service their electronic filter minder should it ever be activated.
Does anyone have a manufacturers name and part number for this device? I hate not knowing how to get something replaced if that day comes.
