Floor heat GFI thermostat

One of my Gold Heat floor heat thermostats is throwing a GFI after about 30 seconds, little red light comes on. The other one works fine, heats up to 92 F no problem. I suppose that GFI is in the thermostat. Do you just replace the thermostat (and hope)? I can't imagine going into the heat mat wiring... Have any of you experienced this?

A GFI trips when it senses an imbalance between the hot and neutral wire, meaning some electricity is flowing to the ground. You could have a faulty GFI, they do go bad, but I'd have the wiring checked to be sure there isn't a break in the insulation causing electricity to flow where you don't want it to. One way of checking the GFI would be to switch it with the other one that is operating and see if the good one also trips.
