Front TV replacement

Looking to replace the original TV in our coach with new digital flat screen so I can use my dish satellite. There is not much room in the head knocker console on our coach. Looking for ideas from anyone with this model that has replaced their TV.

Should get many ideas on this. I replaced the front (37") with a 46" Might want to think about 4K.

Hi Dave. I just did mine last summer and I do believe it turned out pretty good for a non wood worker. I replace the head knocker with a flat screen 32" that fits great and at the same time installed a new dish for satellite connections. I also replaced the one in the bedroom with a 24" and now have a hidden space for a small safe valuables etc.

I don't know how to do the picture thing on the forum so if you want PM me with your email and I'll send you pictures.

BTW it was a fun and pretty easy project...

I replaced my original CRT tv with a 32” Samsung about four years ago. This is after owning the coach for about a year. There are a lot of threads here on doing this. To be honest, I never liked the the viewing angle. So, last year I rebuilt the existing cabinet to accommodate a new 49” 4K Sony television. It has a remote to raise and lower it. Sorry I don’t have a picture of it in the raised position. Much better viewing angle, less neck strain.

Here's mine. It's a 40" on a run of the mill articulating wall mount. The right and left cabinets were not symmetrical so it made things a little more challenging. The center ceiling panel above the TV is new. The old TV did a good job of filling that space before.

after removing the bulky frame, i made a side board towards the left of the tv set with oak, stained and painted to match the color of the rest of the cabinets. to the right of the tv set, i removed the handle of the cabinet door half blocked by the tv set.

Mine looks just like this. Same size TV, it was an easy job. The only thing I added was a piece of 1/4 luan along the top to cover the hole from the old TV. If your going to add a piece of wood make it to go across the whole roof of the coach, it looks nice. A previous poster did the same thing, (its probably where I got the idea)

I even used some of the old vinyl and a piece of wood from the old TV cabinet to build a hole cover behind the TV, it looks great

I did it on my '02 Dutch Star. Came out OK and the old hole created a lot of storage.
Present Magna already had the front TV changed and I did the other two. Used the same mounts even though I went from a 36" to 40" on the midships one, had to modify the slide stops slightly though.

That looks real nice, how did you mount the TV and did you use the existing controller box?

I found some pics from my project, hopefully it will give you some ideas. I used some oak wood and the stain was minwax natural to match my cabinets

Country, also is a pic of that piece that I made to fill the hole. I drilled and installed two bolts through the board before I put the vinyl on, then I used a separate board to go across the hole and the bolts are held to it with some wing nuts so I can remove if needed. Kinda hard to explain, I can send pics if needed.

The bracket I used allows me to hang the tv like a picture and remove as needed. It was a cheap bracket from walmart, but it works great. I adjusted the viewing angle by installing a couple of washers behind the top of the bracket.

i mounted it just like what john described, except i used two aluminum structural 2 inches x 1/2 inches "[" shape bars horizontally attached to the two sides. tv set was mounted to these two bars.

a caution is the weight of left hand box. when the bulky frame is removed, the right side of the left box is not supported. when you install a board, that'll add more weight to it. what i did was using many L shape brackets to affixed the right side board to the ceiling from inside.

i trashed the bomb (box of many buttons), and using one similar to this. mine with 3 x 1 ports is no longer on ebay i just checked. it was made in china, very cheap like $3 when i bought it. 5 years have passed it still does the job with crystal clear videos. 3 inputs (satellite, set-top box, blue-ray) and one output, self powered (no power adapter).

good luck for your project!
