Generator will not stay running while driving

I have a '97 Allure with a 7KW diesel generator that will not stay running while driving even with a full tank of fuel. It will run for 10-15 minutes then shut down. I have checked oil and coolant levels and they are normal. The generator runs fine while stationary. Any suggestions? -- Chuck

Does it show any error codes?

How long has it been since the fuel filter was changed? If a new fuel filter does not correct the problem it is possible you have a loose or cracked fuel line.

I saw your post in another forum/group board I am also memebr of and did not get a chance to provide comment. So, I will do it here

Do you have a strong smell of diesel fuel? If so, I agree with Mike, you may have a cracked fuel line and it is sucking air when going down the road.

I would also check the connections that comes from the remote START/STOP switch that is inside your coach. There is a Molex type plug on the side of your generator. The wiring going to that connector a well as the connector itself willl deteriorate. If you have an intermittent short to ground for your STOP position, the generator will shut down. Remember to check both sides of the connector.

Thanks for the replies.
The generator runs great while stationary so I would think that would rule out the fuel filter (not sure when it was changed the coach is new to me) or cracked fuel line.
I will take the suggestion to check the electrical conections and will also call Power Tec. -- Chuck

Check your oill evel switch...also my uncles dutch star did the same thing and his problem was a loose gen. mount. Whenever he hit some rough roads the gen would "bounce" enough to trip the level sensor making it think the oil was low.

I have a 04 Inspire that was doing the same thing. The problem was a bad lot of Gates fuel hose. The lot # was causing problems world wide, trucks,boats, tractors and motorhomes. The hose would not leak fuel out but would suck air in through the hose. You can not tell it's bad by the way it looks. Check and see if your hose is made by Gates and that may be your answer.

If you have auto gen start it may be shutting down because the house batteries are fully charged. On the Aladdin we just chose the "Manual Off" option.
