Goofy Cruise Control

On this long trip I've had an issue with the cruise control. Often when we start descending a hill and the engine brake engages (I have mine set to engage when I apply the service brake), the cruise disengages as expected. However, when I hit Resume it rarely resumes at the previously set speed. It will resume at whatever speed I am at when it re-engages.

This does not happen every time but seems to always happen if the descent has been long with the CC disengaged for a longer time.

Any ideas?

Sounds like when you try to engage the cruise again after applying the brakes, you're triggering the 'set' instead of 'resume'. You might check that the switch used for that function is operating properly.

It does behave that way but I am clearly pressing the Resume button on the smart wheel. Maybe the wheel isn't so 'smart' any more .
