I have a 40 ft 2001 CC Islander and need more ground clearance. The previous owner like to leave the pavement, hence the edges of the basement doors are chewed up a bit. Are there any temp way to increase the ground clearance, Even entering some commercial parking lots I rub.
I would prefer someting temp as I like the low CG and the unit drives very well.

Dave, the Islander is a product of National RV. National RV owned Country Coach, Inc. for about 8 years but CC did not build coaches for National RV.

If you change the ride height of the rig, the engine and transmission will rise but the differential will not. That change in angle of the drive shaft is a problem, I think.

So, probably not much you can do except maybe install taller tires if there is room.

Agree with Dean here. The early Islanders were what is known in CA as a "low rider".

The chassis was made by Country Coach but it is not the same one under a real CC. The frame tubes are smaller and the tubes have had holes cut in them for the slide machanism. There is flex in the frame so be careful when going over uneven terrain. I know of one Islander that broke the mirrors on the wall when the slide was in and they went over a speed bump crooked. The frame flexed enough to allow the edge of the slide to hit the mirrored wall. I also know of one that pulled the rear cap off as they exited the pavement into a dirt lot.

Good riding coach, just be careful. I don't think you can fit a larger tire.
