HDTV Removal and Basement Doors

Hi, I am planning on removing the outside TV and entertainment center and was wondering if anyone has done it before and any suggestions or secrets to getting it out of the compartment. Also, is there an easy way to temporarily remove the door for the compartment, instead of hitting my head all the time.

Also, plan on removing the one on the inside, but I see some posts on how that one gets removed and except for the weight, it does not look like a terrible job. One difference is that my frame is covered in vinyl and does not have the nice wood that other projects have shown. Might make it a little harder to get a new TV to look nice, Any suggestions on TV mount would be appreciated, especially one that the height can be adjusted as needed.

Can you take the strut(s) off the door and open it wider that way? The struts disconnect very easily.

Our front tv is in a vinyl trimmed frame.

I just installed 2x4 boards to mount a monoprice TV mount. That allows the TV to be more centered and is a bit lower than the original TV.

Also used the frame to house a DVR.

Cost was about $30 with the wood stuff on hand.

Newbe1 this is to reply to your question in the Thanks function which does not facilitate a reply.

One could do something different from my 2x4 solution to support the TV mount. That was you could use the empty space for storage. We had no need for more storage.

I installed a SWM and splitter in the back of the space in case I decide to carry the upscale DVR from home which requires such equipment.

Our standard DVR sits on the floor of the hole. It's RF remote works well through the TV and the plywood cover.

I also installed two coax lines that exit from the front basement to facilitate a portable dish connected to the DVR.

That basement compartment is open on part of the bottom providing a protected connection and avoiding a coax through the window while allowing the ability to record two programs at one time.
