Headlight Adjustment

We have had our Allure for just over a year now and whilst this might sound odd we have not had occassion to drive at night! Well we did yesterday and I could have seen better with a handheld maglight! The PO had installed xenon fittings but whilst they were bright in their own right the setting was way too low and the spread incorrect. I noted that at the back of the light units (extended the generator slide to view)have spirit bubbles and I am trying to identify the process for getting these lights set correctly. The bubbles at the moment are not at centre. So to adjust them one has to extend the gen slide which puts the lights in a non driving position?

Comments and advice appreciated.

Level your coach out that should get you in the park as the set up for the lights then you can test them at night I like the wall method of leveling them up

How does extending the genny effect the headlight aim? My 1993 Magna doesn't do that. Joe

On my Allure the genny is at the front of the coach on an electric slide out. The whole bottom section of the nose cone complete with lights etc advances forward about 3 feet, therefore putting the headlights 3 feet or so in front of the coach. Not their normal position.

Do yourself a favor and have a professional headlight alignment procedure performed on your MH. There is no substitute for alignment equipment which attaches to the front lens and allows the technician to correctly "dial-in" the correct alignment/aiming settings.

I have a 2001 Discovery and love night driving. I experienced the problems you described about poor/inadequate headlight alignment. During my yearly Pa. MH inspection I paid a extra $15.00 and had the mechanic perform the alignment procedure with "professional grade equipment". The difference was remarkable. My light beams now converge on the road ahead and light the road like they were designed to do. It's a pleasure to "night drive" and do it safely. I've just completed my 1100 mile trek from Pa. to Fl. and did 90% of the journey after dark. The headlights worked perfectly.
