Inverter problem

I have a 2005 country coach magna with the Prosine 3.0 inverter & we only have power if cord is plugged into shore power or generator is on, the total coach panel had red light & flashing green lights so I was told to unhook coach batteries for an hour & disconnect shore power & shut off 12v disconnect to chassis, we did that & panel came back ok. But no power unless plugged in or generator on any suggestions? I also checked breakers & fuse on dc side.

The distinct possibility exists that the inverter needs to be sent back to the manufacturer for diagnosis and repair. It's not a tough job, just tedious.

Is your battery disconnect switch turn ON? Batteries full charged?

Check the big T fuse first, then check the cable connections (both positive and negative); sometimes the grounding is loose. A viable method is to use a multimeter to measure the ohms between the inverter terminals and the house battery terminals respectively. Both should be close to 0.
Otherwise, look into inverter self.

Checking the down stream 'fat fuse' from the inverter, is a a good idea. At least confirm it's not a problem!

While exercising our batteries, which included turning off shore power and then running both a 1500W heater on hight, and the Convection Microwave, off of the MS2812 inverter. (Had been on Float for about 7 weeks, so I was running the bank down to about 75% SOC, so I could recharge it fully, and then run a Conditioning run after that. I do a full charge and conditioning run on the Lifeline's every 6-8 weeks.). The MS2812 was handling that heavy load well, but when the curling iron was plugged in in the bathroom, within a few minutes we lost power into the coach via the Inverter leg.)

It was the Class T Bussmann(SP?) Fuse that had gone out. This was on me, as I left the cable size and Class T Bussmann fuse that was installed by Country Coach in place, when I upgraded to the MS2812. If I had gone to a fatter cable higher rated Class T Bussmann fuse - it would've handled the full load... A future project, when/if I jump to Lithium battery bank. If I do, i'll want to run one AC off of this, and will beef up the cabling/fuse and probably go to the MSH3102 inverter at that time. (One place we stay, has a 20A outlet, so having the MSHxxxx series of inverter, will allow the Battery Bank to augment the 20A outlet.)

Following this thread, to see what you find out! Best of luck,
Smitty
