Key Maintenance/Repair Issue Question

Hi:
We bought a new 96 CC Affinity (pre-slides) and had a great run for 13 years, 130K miles. Have had other coaches recently (Tiffin Allegro Bus) and no coach for a while. We are negotiating to purchase a 2007 CC Intrigue Jubilee with a 400 HP Cummins ISL, 36,000 miles.

After researching this forum I am now up to speed on having the aluminum radiator changed out and the dry PTO modified to wet. Some/most windows are being changed out as they have fogged. I had a diagnostic run on the 400 ISL by a Cummins dealer. I got a print out that I cannot make much sense of but will talk to the tech later today.

My request for help: Besides batteries, tires and normal acceptance of the onboard systems are there any other things I should check carefully or be aware of? We plan on going full time for a while.
Thanks for your assistance. GGW

Congrats. You seem to have a good handle on things. What type of refrigerator do you have in it ?

Looks like you have covered most of it, the only thing is the Not-So-Cold frig and you may want to look and see if your 07 falls into the S/N of the 06 on wrist pin problems.

What length is the coach? I thought the Intrigues of that era had a larger engine, either the 500HP CAT or a Cummins bigger than the ISL.

In any case, the Intrigue is a nice rig. And, the radiator may hold up fine. They did not all fail but if you can negotiate a better price because of the potential, I would try to do it.

If it has patio awnings, Carefree or Girard, make sure they operate. Fabric replacement could cost around $1500 each (I'm guessing). I think you have covered most other major ones.
All the Best!

The coach is a 45. I realize the 400 hp cummins may be at the low end of weight to power ratio, but I am not a speeder nor much of a mountain climber. Thanks, ggw

Also, do you know if I need to check out a "wrist pin" issue with the engine?
thanks, GGW

Thanks for the info on the wrist pin issue. I am getting the engine serial number so I can check it against the series affected.

Where is Dave Roots? I may take a discount on the price and have the windows done. Do you remember the cost? It would appear the dealer was prepared to fix/replace 9 windows and he thought his cost would be $5,000.

Thanks....
the coach is 45'. I realize the engine is on the small end of the stick for the coach, but am assuming it will be OK as I am not a speeder or mountain climber. Any thoughts otherwise would be appreciated. You know what they say about assumptions. GGW

I think the windows are about $350.00 each to repair. Have them knock off 5k for the windows and you can pocket almost 2k. Then try and leverage them for the radiator and wet kit.

WoW.....how helpful this owners forum has been. I have negotiated the windows, radiator, PTO, but alas, the engine is one of the 2006 recalled for wrist pin failure. Bummer.....as I understand this issue, there is no real fix. The recall simply added a pressure warning light. However, according to Cummins if the part fails the best case is a major overhaul and the worst case is a new engine. I doubt if I can negotiate a new engine and I dont want to drive a ticking time bomb. Thanks everyone. Back to the search....

Cost is usually $200 for side windows and $300 for the drivers and the door window might also be $300.

If you are in TX it is a long way to Oregon. Dave is out of Bend, Or the first time they drove from Bend to my place in Warren around 200mi then last week he came back to do the last 2 DS windows took about 3hrs. This is one that Country Coach fixed on there penny just before I got it, my total cost for 11 windows around $3900 with a 3 year warranty.
With the wrist pin problem, I would pass
