The schematics for my 2000 Magna shows a SPDT switch. The switch, also known as a momentary on-on switch, uses only the common and normally closed terminals. The normally open terminal is not connected to anything. I think CC probably used this switch because it is more commonly available than a SPST switch with normally closed contacts.

This link http://tinyurl.com/y9zkkzca will take you to a web page with a switch as I described. For the price it would be worth trying.

Well I finally got the switch properly mounted and working. The three pole connections of the switch I purchased on Amazon compared with the Carling switch that was original equipment, is laid out different. After rewiring a couple times, it worked!. Next up is the rubber and foam seals around the entrance door. After all the replacement hinge work along with the switch swap, time to get it all "air tight". I realize this is a tall order but one step at a time right?
